British Council Encourage Social Entrepreneurship

Business or entrepreneurial still understood the extent of trading activity for financial gain pan as much as possible. In fact, social-oriented activities that are initially fixed to provide financial benefits, as well as produce other benefits such as community empowerment, environmental conservation, and also cultural.

To encourage the further development of social entrepreneurial activity in Indonesia, the British Council in collaboration with Arthur Guinness Fund, will provide grants to the perpetrators of social entrepreneurial activity in Indonesia.

"The British Council wants to connect the experiences of social entrepreneurs that have developed in England long ago," said Dawn Grace Community at a press conference at the Hotel Aston Entrepreneurs Challenge, Bandung

These grants will be awarded through a competition organized by the British Council. This competition will gather a variety of brilliant ideas that can solve social problems through entrepreneurship approach. "The funds provided will amount to Rp 400 million for social pewirausaha beginners, and Rp 200 million for the semi-established," adds Dawn, who serves as Programme Manager at the British Council.

However, funds provided to each pewirausaha be varied in accordance with the needs of each activity. Application for social entrepreneurship competition will be open from 9 April 2010 until May 31, 2010. Detailed information can be found at the British Council website:
